Dear all,

I wish to know the format of termination of service for my staff. He has been offered a fixed-term contract of six months. His contract will end next month. Our company does not wish to continue his contract, so I need to serve a letter of termination of service.

Please tell me how to write the letter; I need it as soon as possible.

Thank you.

He has been offered a fixed-term contract for six months. His contract will end next month. As his contract is going to end next month, it must be specified in the contract that unless extended in writing, this contract is considered terminated. Therefore, there is no special need to provide a termination letter. You can inform the employee verbally that they should start looking for other opportunities as their contract will end this month, and we will not be extending it. It's important to note that termination and contract end have different implications, so a termination letter is not required in this scenario.

Thank you.

  • Dear HL,

Nothing needs to be done further, and you need not give him any termination letter. It will terminate automatically by the flux of time. At best, you may think of informing him in advance by saying that as per the terms of the appointment, his tenure will expire on a specific date. I presume that the date of the commencement of employment must have been mentioned in the said appointment letter. Six months have to be computed from that date.

    Best of luck,
    Mohan.

  • Hi all,

I am a new graduate of psychology, and I am working in a new company. I don't have experience related to HR. I need to write a letter for my contractual employee. His contract will end on the last day of September, and the management did not continue his contract.

Could you please provide a sample format of a letter for this situation?

    Thank you.
