Hello all, I have received an interview call from PNB for an HR position. Can you please help me prepare for the same? Kindly guide me on the type of questions I should expect and the topics I must prepare for. Hoping for responses from all the experts here... :)

You will get questions from all spheres of HR. Most of them will be from the soft HR part, i.e., OB, HR Policy, etc. However, it would be advantageous if you pre-equip yourself with the statutory acts like EPF, ESI, BONUS, GRATUITY, FULL AND FINAL SETTLEMENT, EXIT POLICY, TRANSFER NORMS, and DRAFTING LETTERS LIKE APPOINTMENT, TERMINATION, RETIREMENT, WARNING, ETC.

Public sector banks are exempt from P.F. and ESI Acts. They may not ask any questions about them. They primarily deal with the Industrial Disputes Act. Therefore, it is essential to thoroughly read the I.D. Act, including its definitions, recent amendments, the Bonus Act, and the Gratuity Act. Additionally, prepare yourself on the following:
1. What are the various banking services?
2. What do you know about PNB?
3. What is your understanding of conciliation and adjudication?
4. What is a settlement? What is the procedure for recording a settlement?
5. What is an award?
6. Can an officer seek a remedy under the I.D. Act?
7. What basic factors will you consider for manpower planning?
8. Is the Shops and Establishment Act applicable to banks?
9. How would you handle an employee who is irregular in attendance?
10. Familiarize yourself with HR concepts like KAIZEN, Quality Circles, 360-degree performance appraisal, etc.
11. What is the maximum limit of gratuity payable under the Gratuity Act?
12. How would you handle an employee who committed misconduct?
13. What is Industrial relations? What do you know about the recent incidents at Manesar at Maruti Suzuki Plant?
14. What actions can you take for unauthorized absence or absence during Bharat Bandh?
15. How many functions can you list for HR?
You can prepare some basic questions based on the above guidelines.
