Can Work Ethics Be Taught?

Is work ethics something that can be taught? If so, how? Or do people learn it from their early years, making it not a teachable thing? I need this information as I run a school and find it necessary to work on this topic with employees before they join in.

In response to your questions, yes, ethics can be taught through two means:

1. Presentations of situations - there are plenty available on the internet; simply search for "ethics ppt."
2. By taking applicants or trainees on a tour within the workplace and providing live examples of how people interact with each other.

I believe you work at a school based on your name, is that correct?

Yes, ethics can be taught. The assumption that people will learn these by themselves is sheer speculation. The best way to teach ethical business practices or ethical work practices is during the induction process. One effective method is to showcase past instances of ethical work practices demonstrated by managers or workers. Instead of providing external examples, illustrating examples of the individuals working around them will have a greater impact.
