Charge sheet is the official document describing the charges leveled against the accused (employee). Serving of a charge sheet is one of the preconditions of formal disciplinary action taken against an employee. A charge sheet is expected to be worded very carefully; otherwise, the inquiry may be vitiated.

Charge Sheet in labor law jurisprudence is defined as the show-cause notice issued to an employee for his alleged misconduct in service. It should mention the details of the misconduct and which provision of the company's rules the employee breached. The charge sheet should be written in a language understood by the employee and served on him personally or to his last known address.
