Hi Bharati, The revision in the Maternity Act you are talking about is for female government employees only. This provision was initially provided by the Haryana government to their staff. Now, as per my knowledge, it has been extended to all government staff. For the private sector, the leaves are limited to 3 months only as no revision has been made to the Maternity Act.

Clarification on Maternity Benefit Duration
Maternity benefit is provided only for 84 days as per the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961, and not three months, i.e., six weeks before and six weeks after the date of delivery. For further clarification, you may also go through the Act of 1961.
