Dear All, I need the details whether private sector employees can avail the maternity leave period for 6 month, same as government employees. if not, when it’s going to come into act.

In private sectors, it depends upon the HR policies of that firm. Many private sector companies do have the same 6 months of maternity leave, but there is no such condition to be applicable to all firms.

Most private firms follow The Maternity Benefit Act of 1961. According to the act, 84 days of paid leave can be availed by a pregnant woman. This leave can be extended if required as per the provisions in the act. Please Google the act to find all the information you need.
