Hello Friends,
As per the new ESIC number allotted by them, they now want our staff (those who are applicable for ESIC) to visit their branch office with their family for family photographs and fingerprints. They also need to attend a camp along with their family on the same dates to know more benefits from ESIC. I received information that if the staff is not with the persons who he had mentioned on the ESIC form as his family members, they will not be allowed for benefits.
Dates to visit their offices in Mumbai are: 23/03/10 to 26/03/10, 29/03/10 to 31/03/10, and 05/04/10 to 09/04/10.
Is this just because they are increasing the ESIC limit? Why all of a sudden is the government doing this camp? I don't think this will work out. What is your opinion, friends?
Regards,
Madhura

Dear Madhura,
ESIC has come up with the concept of a master/smart card for insured persons. This campaign is being run across India. To create a smart card, the insured person has to visit their camps for photographs and scanning of fingerprints. After this, the insured person will get two smart cards - one for themselves and the second for their family. With the smart card, the insured person and their family can avail of ESIC benefits anywhere in India, regardless of whether the family is residing with the insured person or not.
It is compulsory for everyone because after the 11th of August 2010, only the smart card will be acceptable everywhere to access medical benefits as communicated by ESIC officers.
I hope it's clear now. For further clarification, please revert.

Hello Sharmaaneesu,
Another issue is that only 2% of our staff are utilizing this benefit. Others are not interested at all. At this point in time, others do not have their original ESIC card with them (they have lost some). They need to have it with them at the time of the campaign.
I also made a major mistake at the time of submitting the NEW form in the 17-digit format. I did not make a copy of the form. I only have the acknowledgment letter from them, which lists the ESIC forms/numbers/names of the insured persons that I submitted to them.
Please guide me on what I am supposed to do now?
Regards,
Madhura

Dear Madhura,
You should have taken copies of the forms as an added confirmation, but nonetheless, if you still have the acceptance letter signed and stamped, it will work. The employee just needs to carry their permanent ESI cards to get their photographs and fingerprints scanned at the ESIC camp. In case they are denied entry for any reason, you can always provide a copy of the letter to the employee to show at the camp.
