Dear All,
Our organization gives 2 weekly offs - Saturday & Sunday. Please let me know if the minimum 21 days of annual leave mentioned in the Bombay Shops & Establishments Act will include the Saturday weekly off. Do we need to give annual leave of 21 days besides the 2 weekly offs of Saturday & Sunday?
Thank you.

Dear Neha,
Weekly offs and leaves are two different things. Weekly offs are your planned days off, stipulated in your standing order as offs. Annual leaves are provided based on the work employees have done for the organization.
Annual leaves are meant for emergencies or when needed. However, Saturday off cannot be used for that purpose. This off day applies to all employees, while leave is intended to offer additional time off when urgently required.
