Dear Trainers,
Time and again, this question has occurred to new budding trainers regarding the difference between TNI, TNA, and training need evaluation. Please guide me and send me some literature, ppt, or articles if you have any.
Thanking you in anticipation.

Dear Sarabjeet,
I should say that it's quite a good and a valid question. I hope I would be able to answer the same.
TNI: It's the simple identification of the training needs of an individual.
TNA: It is the study of needs, in the sense of prioritization of the needs according to urgency, organizational requirements, etc. The end result of the same is to get the needs that would create a maximum impact and should be catered to at the earliest.
TNE: It is the mapping part of the needs. Whether the needs identified are pertaining to the job requirements (current or future) or not.
I hope my senior HR Professional would agree with this.

I think I can add on here.
TNI: TRAINING NEED IDENTIFICATION - Acts as the base for the training, determining why a training session should be conducted in the first place or identifying the need for the training.
TNA: Training Need Analysis: To understand who requires what training - a simple analysis of what is required and what is available.
TNE: Training Need Evaluation: To evaluate if the training is worth conducting. It is not worth conducting the training for just one resource if the trainer needs to be hired from an external source or if the training costs are high, etc.
If someone has a different opinion, please share it.

Hi All HR & Training Professionals,
A very good evening on the eve of Independence Day! I have now, after three decades of hard-core HR/IR/Personnel work in plant/corporate HR, taken up teaching. I am currently teaching MBA students at one of the management institutes in New Mumbai for the past two weeks. It's that passion that gives me immense pleasure!
The discussions on TNI (Training Needs Identification), TNA (Training Needs Analysis), and TNE will always continue. Another terminology I have observed trainers using is "PRE - PERI - POST TRAINING."
PRE = Prior to the training input situation
PERI = Status of learning capabilities during the sessions
POST = Periodic evaluation after the training inputs provided
While the terms may vary, the ultimate process and concepts remain the same... I hope!
