Hi there!

I worked for a company for three months, and my PF deduction per month was Rs. 992. The company asked me and one of my colleagues to resign after 3 months for no reason (it was due to some internal politics affecting us juniors by causing us to lose our jobs). Although they provided us with a clearance certificate and one month's salary for the notice period, we have been unable to withdraw our PF. It has been 9 months since my colleague and I left the organization. Despite our repeated requests, the company did not provide us with the PF number. It is not even mentioned on our salary slips.

Can anyone please suggest how I can recover my PF amount and PF number from the company? I believe that according to the law, the company is liable to pay interest on my PF as well. Please advise me on how to proceed.

Thanks & Regards,
Neelanjana Saxena.

Hi,

It is a must that you should have/know your PF number either for transfer or for withdrawal.

We don't know whether they have remitted the PF amount deducted from you by allotting the PF number.

It's better to apply for the transfer of the amount through your present employer by submitting Form 13A after obtaining the PF number from your previous employer.

Thanks & regards,

Dear Neelanjan,

The situation you mentioned is very tricky. The kind of situation you described where the employer will never let you know your PF number, and possibly it has not been submitted to the authorities.

You need to make some extra effort for this. Just try to find out the company's PF code number and contact the PF authorities at their regional or zonal office. They have almost everything computerized nowadays. This way, you will at least be clear whether they have deposited the amount or not. If yes, you can easily get it transferred to your new account with the help of HR in the new company.

If not, there is no other option than to request the older company to reimburse the amount.

Hope your query is cleared.

Rahul Sethi
