An old topic I guess....but interesting anyway...

I agree with Robert...Developing a Personality test is a huge task...needs loads of investment in all respects....time, money and effort.

Personally, I am using some Personality Tests like 16 PF, in training programs either in isolation or in tandem with the outbound training programs. By the way, I am a psychologist and an outdoor trainer (we use outdoor as a medium to learn). This gives me an opportunity to use these instruments after validating the same with the data generated in the outdoors. Believe me, some of these tests give fantastic inputs if used for the right purpose. Probably two key things to be taken care of...Using an instrument which is culture specific, and using these tools for development purpose and if at all they are to be used for recruitment then better to support with other data like interview.

Reema, I would be inetersted in knowing more about the Psychometric Test (For IT) you are talking about..? If you would like to share....

Very delighted to hear that personality inventories are customized in india .I am also involved in designing an inventory for an IT company.I have identified the traits to be measured.
Would be great to hear more about the inventory you were talking abt.Also will be obliged if you assist me.

there is a book named Training Instruments in HRD and OD by Udai Pareek.... it talks about alot of personality inventory tools.. might be helpful to you Regards, Poonam
