As per the shops and commercial establishments act the maximum working hours per week is 48Hrs. that is excluding the Lunch break and the tea/coffee breaks.
As you mentioned due to the project deadlines normally many of the companies are working late evenings and ofcourse full nights also if its peak of the deadline.
