Hi , in my opinion there is no need to serve the notice period as his resignation letter is accepted give him the reliving letter and settle his dues only.

Hi
As my point of view you may get special approval from your Head HR / higher ups and relieve him immediately. And also please refer his appointment order clause also. Check the clause whether he has to serve full notice period or management can pay 45 days notice pay.
Another way if he is eligible for leave in the probation period? leave balance is their you can adjust in the notice period and relieve him with prior approval of authorized person.
