Dear Shweta,
Two conditions falls on your query:
a)If your company policy for calculation for total monthly salary is based on including weekly off(means Jan 2011 divided by 31 or Feb 2011 is devided by 28 days) then you can count CL for Sunday too.
b)if total monthly wages calculation is based on only working days,then CL adjustment on weekly off is not valid.
Another point for everybody:Dont count/adjust EL on weekly off.

If it is CL/SL then sunday should be a leave, so it’ll three day CL/SL, for EL sunday should be excluded.

Two options falls on this

please note , if it is a Factory, acording to Sec.79 explanation-2 Leave shall be exclusive of all holidays whether occuring during or at either end of the leave period.
under shop & establishment Acts the sunday/holiday at either end of leave period is treated as prefix/suffix. any sunday/holiday occuring during the leave period is counted as leave. I hope the point is clear to you. if any query please contact

Dear Mr. Dhingra,
Please review your opinion, as reading between the lines can lead to misinterpretation of the case and misleading of your client.
Section 79 of the Factories Act pertains to ANNUAL LEAVE WITH WAGES, whereas the query is with reference to the casual leave, as already clarified by Shwetaa at page 3 of this thread.
For your kind information casual leave is not a recognized form of leave like Annual Leave, Paid Leave, E/L, Maternity Leave, etc. (as may be), and is granted on casual basis for emergency purposes by the organizations. Naturally, Explanation-2 below Section 79 is about the Annual Leave with wages, not for Casual Leave.

Is there any rule that if an employee takes leaves more then 7 days (with or without information) then all Sunday will be counted as leave. For example- an employee is regular working till 18 October and now he need leaves of 7 days. now the previous days (before 18 Oct) of Sunday will count as leave.

Hi,
If any employee who did atleast 3 days working in that week and going for leave for saturday & monday then we have no need to count sunday as leave, because he had completed his 50% of attendance after 50% attendance an employee will be entitle for sunday. so sunday will be count between saturday & monday.

Hi Shweta,
if u count theses as casual leave then the sunday will be counted as leave but if u take it as a sick leave then it will be considered as holiday.
in addition to that it depends upon the company leave policy.

Dear,
Holiday / Sunday / Week offs between leave days will be treated as leave only.
Logic:-
Week off is a day rest after working days but one cant avail rest in between leaves .
So simple and clear !!

Dear swetha,
as per cl register maintained sunday is not be taken as cl and in this case only saturday and monday to be calculated and in case leave on loss of pay three days is taken into lop(saturday, sunday& monday).
