Maternity leave can be taken in slots. For example, if a female employee avails maternity leave for 4 months, works from home for 1 month, and then avails the remaining 2 months of maternity leave. Is this level of flexibility available in the law, especially for the IT sector?

Please provide suggestions. Thank you.

Maternity leave is given for the person to rest and care for health during this critical and important part of life. Part leave, then work from home (WFH), and then leave again are not privileges granted by law. The law is not specific to the IT sector; it applies across the board. A 26-week leave is authorized. In addition to this leave, she may be assigned work from home if the nature of work permits this. Section 3(5) of the Maternity Benefit Act.
