It is proposed to be revised from Rs.10000/- to Rs.15000/-. The notification has appeared in the gazzette, however it will become an Act only after it is passed in the parliament. Till such time, the coverage limit remains the same i.e. Rs.10000/- only.- Praful Joshi
The esi celling is changed 10000 to 15000.it will be effected from 1st of May 2010.

My question is related to teh ESI Coverage. Now as per the new notification the ESI coverege is changed from Rs. 10,000 to 15,000/-. If an employee is covered by a corporate medical policy then is it required for the employee to be covered under ESI.?

Where this Act is applicable the appropriate Govt. is empowered to grant exemption under section 88 of the ESI Act, 1948. Therefore apply to the Govt. for this exemption. For more details you can also approach your local ESI Office.
