Would like to enlighten the following facts regarding the case mentioned by Mr Vaneeth :-
Non Cash Benefits under Maternity Act -
1. Light work for 10 weeks (6 weeks plus 1 month) before delivery.
2. Two Nursing breaks of 15 Minutes until the child 15 months old.
3. No discharge or dismissal while on maternity leave.
4. No charge to her disadvantage while on maternity leave.
Dismissal During Absence of Pregnancy
Any discharge or dismissal of a woman during pregnancy for absence is entitled to maternity benefit/medical bonus.
In case of Gross misconduct the employer in written can communicate about depriving such benefit.
Within 60 days from date of deprivation of maternity benefit, any Women can appeal to the authority prescribed by law.
[B]Penalty for Contravention of Act [/B]
Imprisonment with minimum period of 3 months to maximum 01 year
Fine from Rupees Two Thousand to Rupees Five Thousand.

Thanks a lot to all of you for your quick response. Can anyone please guide me regarding the procedure and the appellate authority with which to file the complaint? They did this once previously also, so this is hi-time that they be taught a lesson in employee benefits.
