How can one handle them without getting into quarrel or fight.

It is the Supervisor who needs to handle this.He needs to take them into confidence and impress upon the shop floor workers that quarrel or fight will be viewed seriously by the Management .
In India we have Industrial Employee Standing Orders to take care of such problems.
Ultimately the rules is only a deterrent but Human Relations on the Shop Floor is the job of the Supervisor and Works Manager and Welfare Officer.

Hi,
To control and develop the people is more on leadership capabilities to the Supervisor. Supervisor or their immidiate superior must control their own people before the issues bring up to the HR.
In this issue all staff must be cleared with the company policy or terms and conditions of employement. it must be stated in written e.g in the handbook. the do and don't plus and the misconduct category must be highlighted. all staff must be informed, explained, understand and agreed the terms and conditins.
if all of them are understand the ground, it will help us in reducing the case fighting and misconduct case.
