Hi,

The quality circle is a volunteer group composed of workers (or even students), usually under the leadership of their supervisor (but they can elect a team leader), who are trained to identify, analyze, and solve work-related problems. They present their solutions to management to improve the organization's performance, motivate employees, and enrich their work. When matured, true quality circles become self-managing, gaining the confidence of management. Quality circles offer an alternative to the dehumanizing concept of the division of labor, where workers are treated like robots. They reintroduce the concept of craftsmanship, which, on an individual basis, may be uneconomical but, when utilized in group form (as with quality circles), can be powerfully effective. This approach enables the enrichment of workers' or students' lives, fosters harmony, and boosts workplace performance. Typical topics include enhancing occupational safety and health, improving product design, and refining workplace and manufacturing processes.

The term "quality circles" originates from the concept of PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) circles developed by Dr. W. Edward Deming. Quality circles typically do not receive direct payment for any improvements' cost benefits. However, a portion of the savings realized is often reinvested in enhancing the work environment (citation needed).

Quality circles are formal groups that convene at least once a week during company time. They are guided by competent individuals (often designated as facilitators) who may be human resources and industrial relations specialists trained in human factors and essential problem-solving skills, information gathering, analysis, basic statistics, and solution generation. Quality circles have the freedom to choose any topic for discussion, except those related to salaries and employment terms, as there are other established channels for addressing these issues.

Excellent and simplified introduction to a complicated topic, especially for beginners.

Can you explain the process/workflow in Quality Circle after identifying a problem by members? If possible, can you attach a sample project/example of a problem identified and its resolution for better understanding?

Thank you

Dear Friend,

The presentation is indeed informative in nature. However, the colors used are too loud. If you could just use basic colors, it would be fantastic. In any case, good effort.
