Compliance with Salary Register Requirements
A salary register should be exactly as prescribed in the relevant act applicable in the respective state. While a firm can design the salary slip/register to its own requirements, it is essential to produce a salary register as prescribed by the Labour Department in the Payment of Wages Act, etc., to the Labour officer of the respective state to satisfy statutory requirements.
Printed registers are available in bookstores in all states, and these should be produced to the Labour officers during inspections and certified as required. Failing to do so may result in a fine being levied, apart from other penal actions. Please ensure compliance with this aspect as well.
