Hi all,

Greetings!

Can anyone clarify for me the following: What is meant by ''employment carried on under the authority of the Central Government''? This phrase is used in the definition of ''Appropriate Govt.'' in the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976. Can you specify any employment under the authority of the Central Govt. for the purpose of the said Act?

Thanks,
Navaneethan

Mr. Mathu,

Thank you for your immediate response.

I am under the impression that ''the establishments under the control of Central Govt.'' refers to the ''Controlled industries'' because the said term is also used in the definition of ''Appropriate Govt'' in a few other Acts (i.e., ESI Act, EPF Act). Whether my understanding is correct?

Kindly clarify the difference between the term ''establishments under the control of Central Govt.'' and ''the employments under the authority of Central Govt.''

Regards,
D. Navaneethan

Appropiate Government will be decided based on the industrial employment not by the establishment.
