I am supposed to do a project on performance appraisal in an ad agency. I have the least idea of how to go about it. Can you all please suggest to me how and what all things I should include in my project? I do not know how it is done in an ad agency. Please guide me on this.

In fact, I am supposed to approach an Ad agency and collect the different Appraisal Forms for different Employees, like the seniors, employees in the creative department, etc. But still, I want to know, what all things should I include in my project? How should I start it? What are the necessary topics to be included in my content?
So please suggest to me, how should I go about doing the project on this topic?

To begin a project work, the most essential thing is the preparation of the objectives and methodology. What are you aspiring to study?
- Is it the design of a brand new format?
- Is it to examine the existing one to make necessary changes?
- Is it to examine the impact of the present format?
How do you wish to carry out your study? What would be the sources of data gathering?
When it comes to primary data, are you going to conduct interviews? If so, which type - structured, unstructured, or are you going to present the respondents with a schedule? Will it be a questionnaire? If so, which form - open, closed, dichotomous?
Regarding secondary data, should you examine the job descriptions/job profiles of the candidates you wish to study? What is the current method? Were there any changes earlier in the formats? Is the current one the only one since the inception of the company?
Why does the company want you to study appraisals? Is it because they want a new format, or is it because they want to modify/update the existing one or...?

Thank you so much for your reply. I have to study the appraisal system in an ad agency. Thus, I have to know what kind of appraisal system they follow (360 degrees, 540 degrees) and when it is done - quarterly, every six months, or yearly. Who conducts it? What is the format of the forms? Basically, there must be different appraisal forms at different levels for various designations, etc.
All I have to do is approach an ad agency and, with their permission, collect appraisal forms and gather all the above information from the agency. So far, none of them have given me a positive reply.
Now, I think I should approach any organization, maybe banks or private organizations, that would be willing to share the information.
