We have a team of 100 people all over India.

1) What kind of data must we have before building an HR department?
2) Till date, all compensation-related issues have been taken care of by the MD only.
3) How can an HR department be established in this scenario?

How will people feel comfortable with an HR manager whom they have never met, especially if the HR manager is female? How can HR help them feel comfortable? They may be suspicious, thinking that because he or she is part of management, they may only report to management.

You have not mentioned the size of your organization. Based on that, I can suggest to you immediately the entire HRD department chart linking with individual work profiles (i.e., what is to be done by each HR executive).
