Hi, This is Nadeem. I have joined a food manufacturing organization as Manager HR. Due to expansion, I have to deal with recruitments of new candidates for all levels (up to manager). Can somebody provide me with the techniques for recruitments/interviews? Thanks for the support.

Dear Cronies,

I often have doubts about hiring people because I work in an FMCD-based company and need to hire salespeople. I have reached out to colleges and polytechnics across Tamil Nadu for this purpose. I need to further the hiring process to fulfill my firm's requirements. Kindly guide me!

With fervent regards, Mahendran C HR Officer

For Recruitment: Through - Employment Exchange, Job portals, Campus Recruitment, Mainly using local resources.

For Interviews: Should take much time for one-on-one interviews, use prescribed questions, use selection questionnaire like (Psychometric & General knowledge with maths).

Thank you.

Hi Nadeem,

There are several ways to source candidates for the XYZ position. Viz

- Own Friend Circle
- Friend's Reference
- Internal Employee's Referral
- Portals
- Advertisements

Now, when you have gathered a good number of resumes/applications, make a call to the candidate. Spend about 20 minutes on the phone and discuss:

- Experience
- Areas of interest
- Why they are changing their job
- Who informed them about this opening
- Why they are interested in this job and company
- Their current achievements and failures
- Their current salary (CTC), expected salary, time to join
- Their family details
- Expected time to attend interviews

Don't forget to ask if they have any offers in hand. If yes, inquire about the salary offered by that company and the date of joining given to them.

After the conversation, make notes and rate the candidate. Proceed to the next candidate similarly.

You can also prepare a Printed Interview Sheet with necessary questions and use it for all candidates.

Next, call the short-listed candidates from the first round for an in-person interview and use a second-level Interview sheet (including tough questions, psychological, and attitudinal questions).

Share the roles and responsibilities of the position and introduce your company to the candidate.

Collect all relevant documents from the candidate.

If you find the candidate suitable for the job, proceed with salary discussions and make an offer.

This is one of the regular and reliable ways of hiring candidates for any position.

Note: All rounds need not be conducted by one person. They should be conducted by different people to have various perspectives on a candidate. Different views noted by different people will make it easier to come to a conclusion.

If you have any confusion, feel free to write to me. If you have any new questions, do ask me. :)

Thanks,
