Hi Connections, kindly help me out with the calculations for compensation when working off. For example, if an employee works for more than 3 hours or less than 3 hours, how should we calculate whether it counts as half a day or a full day off, and what other rules are associated with it?

Compensatory Holiday Policy

Compensatory holiday applies only when an employee is asked to work on a scheduled holiday. In such a scenario, even if the employee has worked for just one hour, they should be given a compensatory day off. Of course, their overtime wages could be restricted to one hour worked at double the rate.

If you do not pay overtime wages or if the concerned employee is not a workman, then you can give half a day compensatory off for working on a holiday for 3 hours.
