Dear Member,

In some states, there is a Special Act and Rules for NFH. The Act and Rules provide provisions for the same. The declaration of National and Festival Holidays changes from state to state. If any employee works on a declared holiday, the employee should be compensated with overtime wages or the wages fixed by the management. However, employees who are entitled to statutory overtime wages should not be compensated with fixed management compensation. Legal problems may arise.

If an employee is asked to work on a holiday, he should be given double the rate of wages for that day or a single rate plus one compensatory leave within 90 days of such holiday working.
