Hi community, recently, a month ago, a compliance issue was raised against me for using a personal device for work. Although it was only for a few hours, I informed the team on a call that I was using a personal device, as I wasn't aware it was against compliance. The organization's security team checked my laptop for any client-related information, and they didn't find any, as there wasn't any.
Still, the issue is not closed, and I'm very worried about my career. I even provided a written statement on stamp paper, assuring them that I don't have any client-related documents or anything.
I also informed HR that I accept my mistake, and I've resigned for the same reason. Now, I'm serving my notice period. However, HR told me they still need to follow the process, and my resignation doesn't count. Can anyone help me understand what might happen next?

Dear member,
You are paying a price for your freewheelingness. While working in a formal organization, it is important to keep oneself apprised of the rules and regulations. However, this did not happen in your case. You discovered that the use of personal laptops is prohibited at work when it was pointed out by the IT security cell of your company. To prove your righteousness or to vouch for not transferring the company's sensitive information, it appears that you have given an affidavit too. However, the company continues to look at you suspiciously. Your resignation from the job, in fact, might have bolstered their suspicion. Why did you choose to resign from the job?
By now, the company should have ordered the domestic inquiry to investigate whether information leakage has taken place. However, why the company has not done it is not understood. Anyway, the direction of the decision of the management cannot be assessed. If the company terminates your services, what remains to be seen is whether they follow the due process of law. If the principles of natural justice are not followed by your company, then not doing so could only be your defense. Therefore, let us wait and watch how things unfold in the future and pray veritas vincit.
Thanks,
