I have 2 units in Gurgaon where in one i create hampers for sale and in next i do labelling packaging. Pls advice if we would fall under factories act or as manufacturing unit?

Dear Aakriti, please go through the definition of the manufacturing process under the Factories Act, 1948, which is provided below for your ready reference. If you are employing 10 or more workers, including contractor workers, and are using power, then you are covered under this Act.

Definition of Manufacturing Process Under the Factories Act, 1948

Sec 2(k) "manufacturing process" means any process for:

- making, altering, repairing, ornamenting, finishing, packing, oiling, washing, cleaning, breaking up, demolishing, or otherwise treating or adapting any article or substance with a view to its use, sale, transport, delivery, or disposal; or
- pumping oil, water, sewage, or any other substance; or
- generating, transforming, or transmitting power; or
- composing types for printing, printing by letterpress, lithography, photogravure, or other similar processes or book-binding; or
- constructing, reconstructing, repairing, refitting, finishing, or breaking up ships or vessels; or
- preserving or storing any article in cold storage.

to be more specific i wanted to know if assortment for the purposes of hamper would fall under manufacturing
