EPFO site is not working since 9th June 2017 making it unable to generate ECR and make online payment of May month's PF dues. It seems that the site will not be operational before the due date under Provident Fund of 15th June.
PF has gone online. Payment of PF contribution is possible only through online. Since, the due date for PF payment is 15th of the following month. Any payment towards PF attracts interest and penalty.
If department is not able to make the site operational by 15h June, ideally it should extend the deadline by few more days and no interest and penalty should be levied for making payment during the extended period.
All organisations are suggested to send a mail or letter to PF department and keep a record of all the communication made in this respect for future reference. There may be a possibility that organisation may receive notice of interest and penalty for not making the PF dues for the month of May, on or before 15th of June 2017. In such case, these records maintained will help in proving that it was not the orgnaisation's fault for not paying the PF dues on time.
