Key Questions for Auditing a Performance Management System (PMS)

In the audit of a Performance Management System (PMS), the following questions must be asked:

1) Is the appraisal system user-friendly and acceptable to both superiors and employees?

2) Is the result of the appraisal system credible and believable?

3) Is the appraisal system and its results legally defensible if a legal question arises out of its results, especially on heavy sanctions like dismissal?

4) Does the appraisal system provide an opportunity for employees to recover from previous ratings?

Best regards.

Information is appreciated. My curiosity is that How answer of these questions would be justified. What type of direct / indirect evidences the auditor must be looking for?
