I have all the documents from the employer, namely, Offer Letter, Appointment Letter, Salary Slips, and Experience Letter (that I will get after my resignation). What I don't have is an appraisal letter.
My company has been delaying the appraisal for the last two months and is denying me the appraisal letter. Please suggest what I can do in such a scenario.

1.) Should I sue my company for not providing me the letter? Is it possible?
2.) Another way, which is kind of risky, can I create a self-edited appraisal letter? Will it be verified by the company?

Let's understand why you would need an appraisal letter. You would need it as proof of your new designation and the salary hike. Are there email communications mentioning the appraisal? Does your new designation reflect along with your employee ID in the ERP? How much has the hike changed your salary? Would your salary slip or even bank statement reflect that?
I suggest you collect the supporting documents and present them to your prospective employer. Please don't get into a dispute while exiting a firm. You need a positive comment from them for your background verification.
