I completed my MBA (HR) in 2008. However, due to the recession that hit at that time, I had to take a placement (through campus) with a marketing firm but had to leave it because of health problems due to extensive traveling. Later, I could not secure a job in HR for 7 months. After that, I took the first job that came my way as I had to pay back my education loan, which led me to a job with an IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) firm with a bond of 3 years. After completing the bond, it has been 1 year since I have been trying to shift back to HR, but nothing seems to be happening. Please advise me on what I should do to transition back to HR.

Thanks,
Mitali

As you have a master's in HR, you can definitely start a career in HR. To begin, target small to mid-sized companies where you can easily get a foot in the door in HR. If that is not possible, consider starting with a consultancy as a recruiter, which can eventually enhance your professional knowledge in HR recruitment. Later on, you can transition to corporate companies as a technical recruiter. Let me know if you need further help in this regard.

Cheers!

Thank you so much for your input. I will try out your suggestion. Could you also guide me on any short-term certification courses that I can take to increase my job possibilities? I have attempted to pursue SAP but was informed that relevant experience is necessary to undertake it.

The information given to you is inaccurate. Having prior experience is not necessary for an SAP-HR course. Check with other training institutes and also with SAP Bangalore. They will have details of courses available.

Are you looking for work in Pune only? If Mumbai is of interest, send me your CV.
