A person joins an educational institution as a full-time teacher at the age of 60 years. Is he eligible for gratuity after completing five years of continuous service? I feel he is eligible. I request the honorable members to please respond.

Gratuity is paid out at the time of superannuation (if you retire at the age of 58), when you retire (at any other age), or upon resignation, and in the event of your death or being rendered disabled because of an accident or illness. You need to have at least five full years of service with an employer to qualify for gratuity.
