Please inform them and ensure that it is corrected. I opine that it is not a serious mistake because you have submitted the copies of all certificates, etc., and it is in the CV, not in the company application. The data in the company application is more relevant and binding.

It's not a big mistake. As you have mentioned correctly in the company form, there is no mistake in it. Just tell the concerned person that you have wrongly mentioned it in your CV and have updated it correctly. It won't create any bad impression on you; rather, it will demonstrate honesty and a genuine quality in you.

Acknowledging a mistake, however small, is all the more appreciated for putting things in perspective, be it through a small correction or a big, detailed explanation. Just write, apologize, and request a correction to be made to the concerned.
I can recount numerous examples in my professional life for that, but that is not required here. Mark my words - an oral pat on the back by a very senior person adds to your stature more than a paper enhancement of your emoluments.

1. Just go over to your HR Department. Go straight to the person who is supposed to maintain your records and calmly tell them that this has happened inadvertently. Please correct it now.
2. Just go over to them, hand over a copy of your updated (corrected) CV, and request them to keep it in your file since it is updated with the change of address, phone number, etc.
Don't simply send a correction letter and remain quiet. And don't worry; it is not a serious mistake. After all, you didn't get this job just because of that 2% mark.

You have been recruited through campus placement. That CV may not be preserved for a long time. Perhaps it may not be available as such in the company now. However, what has happened is unintentional. You might have erroneously left the percentage of marks entry of the previous person, maybe your friend's.
So, like some of our friends have suggested, don't worry. Building confidence based on performance is more important. Do that... Climb the ladder... and of course, this company is not your DESTINATION.

Please note that human error is always acceptable. Kindly inform your local HR to rectify the same and drop a mail to them regarding the mistake that occurred.
