Interesting query! I don't have any time-tested or proven remedies for this, but we can discuss it on this forum and get excellent answers from seniors and readers.

My Suggestions:

- Complete orientation and knowledge of the company's policies and procedures.
- Awareness of organizational culture among employees.
- Listening to employee feedback regarding matters related to their employment.
- Rewarding employees for their "gone-extra-mile" contributions with incentives, certificates of appreciation, R n R events, gift vouchers, or simply a pat on the back, a gratuitous thank you, an appreciating email, or letter.
- Wishing, congratulating, and appreciating personal events and achievements of employees in their lives.
- Ensuring appropriate work-life balance for all employees across all departments.
- On-time salary payments.
- Transparency in policy-making and decision-making related to employee matters.
- Motivating employees to believe that they are an important part of the organization and its teamwork towards growth, success, and prosperity. "Partners in Success."

These are a few suggestions that came to my mind.

Hussain

Hey Suresh, make them aware of the current and true dimensions of their job. Set clear expectations about what you really want from them. You can also use the time-tested formula of giving rewards and recognition. Additionally, organize various developmental activities so they feel that even the company is adding value to them.

Hope this was useful.

I personally think loyalty is an in-built quality. All the other factors like increments, appreciation, and promotions would help to increase morale. However, I also believe that leaders in a company play a vital role in fostering such attitudes among their employees. I strongly believe that if a company has good leadership and a solid value system, people will understand their responsibilities and achieve beyond expectations.

In my opinion, one of the areas that will help improve employee loyalty is:

• **Communication** - Keeping it open top-down and bottom-up.

• **Transparency** - When management is transparent with their policies and communications.

• **Accountability/Responsibilities** - When the organization allows employees to be accountable and responsible when making certain decisions, it gives the employees a sense of trust as they feel the organization trusts their judgment.

• **Involving Employees in Key Decision-Making**

• **Performance Appraisal** - When employees are subjected to evaluation more than once a year to ensure they achieve their goals and use training and development to address their weaknesses.

• **Training and Development** - When the organization is concerned with the continuous development of their employees to ensure they meet their goals.

Thank you.

Comprehensive Strategies for Employee Loyalty

The solutions shared by Yasmin, Miloniysanghrajka, Anandmed, and Anayaat sum it all up. At the same time, Hussain has nailed it! No matter how many processes are drawn, not even a single one of them would stand the test of time, as human values need to be inculcated intrinsically. Extrinsic rewards can create a momentary difference in behavior.

In order to instill loyalty, take a look at the bigger picture and then drill down to each employee. If you have a large employee base, this might not be possible, so group employees based on what motivates them. Ideally, this is done by clustering employees based on demographics, age, and location. Though it's best to leave some room for the "uniqueness factor" in every employee.

Once you have grouped employees, identify the main motivating factors and influencers. An iPod might make an entry-level employee happy, whereas if you are acknowledging a senior employee, try arranging it on a family day. Give away the certification when the family of that employee is around. This would not work for the fresher, as they tend to travel far away from home and stay alone for work. I know a company that used to arrange for the child or the spouse to give away the certification, and the business head used to hand over the prize money in a check. Such a prize distribution ceremony looked very dramatic to me until I noticed the effect.

Internally, create role models in your organization. Find employees across the levels who have traveled to different offices of the company and worked across a major board of people. Identify anecdotes that symbolize overcoming adversity and establishing achievements. Combine the two and arrange for sessions, both formal and informal, to convey that message. The more employees see them, the easier it will be to initiate similar behavior in them.

Loyalty is a lifelong and two-way process. When you initiate programs to instill that in the employees, please take a hard look at the organization and its attributes. Your programs will fail if the leadership of your organization fails to meet the mark. It needs to be established as a top-down process. Work ethics and people values have to be driven both ways.

Acknowledge every action where an employee puts the organization first. It may not be possible to reward such gestures, but make sure they don't go unnoticed. A series of such acknowledgments will bring in the culture in the long run.

Finally, ensure that these programs do not acknowledge needs on the periphery. Create alumni to foster a sense of belonging beyond the organization. If these beliefs about the organization can echo outside, the environment inside will follow the lead.

Request you to share more about your organization so that we can help you identify a fitting solution.

I feel proud that I am also taking part in this brainstorming discussion. In my opinion, a senior should live as a role model to others; only then will others follow or emulate (whatever term you prefer) the senior. In fact, even children observe their parents' activities and learn by example, rather than just listening to their parents or others and acting accordingly. Everyone has their own role model in life. If they choose the right role model, they will follow the right path.

Loyalty cannot be bought with money, motivation, promotions, or appreciation, etc. It is an inborn quality, and the role model is chosen by the staff members themselves.

I have recently started my job, and while I may not have extensive professional experience to draw from, I can share what factors are important for me to remain loyal to a company in the long run.

1. The whole work environment should be one where you feel comfortable working, and your views and thoughts are listened to carefully.
2. Your contributions to the company should be recognized.
3. The working culture should be professional, and the company should have confidence in its employees. (For example, you shouldn't need to put a security camera near the water cooler to check how many times an employee goes for water or tea.)
4. There should be a constant learning experience and opportunities to gain new knowledge and skills.
5. Most importantly, there should be a sense of security, knowing that your company cares for you.

Others have given you some sound advice. Hence, let me ask you a few questions. What do you do, in which industry, and what is the size of the organization? Do you have a lot of competitors around? What level or class of employees are you considering? Had you checked the web for a general question like this, you would have found answers such as the ones at Google.

As the saying in teaching goes, "There is no one best way to teach," there is no one best way to improve the loyalty of employees.

Have a lovely day.

A lot of suggestions, comments, etc., are given above. In my opinion, in addition to the above, if one feels that he/she is taken care of and respected by the other sincerely, then he/she will feel inclined to contribute sincerely to the other. The contributions from each other should flow selflessly, and then loyalty can be generated. Both parties should sincerely strive to contribute to this effect.

Suresh

First, every living being, by nature, craves to have importance and love. Make the employees feel genuinely that they are truly valued and important to the organization. This is the single most powerful feeling, as per my understanding, that would naturally increase loyalty.

Second, the top people should meet people lower in the hierarchy on a periodic basis to listen to them and ask if they are fine. This will create an impression that the top individuals are personally interested in them, which, in turn, will result in increased loyalty.

Third, call people by their names, to the extent possible (because I don't know the size of the organization). This will work on the subconscious level of the members of the organization.

Kirtan

Dear Mr. Suresh, it is not possible to improve loyalty, but one can lose or give away their loyalty for a peanuts price. You can definitely succeed in enhancing performance levels. Senior and experienced members, including others, have posted their suggestions. One thing that I have understood is that you are "a loyal personality," and I am sure you can educate your employees about "loyalty." You'll get a mixed response, but very few will show interest in your hard work. Kindly correct me if I am wrong.

With profound regards,

I have read suggestions and views posted by various members of this forum. I would like to participate in this brainstorming session and submit my suggestion for further reference, which may serve a purpose.

Understanding Loyalty

Loyalty refers to a person being absolutely true at all times. All employees should be treated equally without showing partiality. This will prevent employees from thinking negatively about the organization.

Ways to Improve Employee Loyalty

- **Motivation:** If you want your employees to be loyal to their organization, the first and foremost thing is motivation, which can be provided during the induction period. Introducing new employees to all team members and sharing more information in favor of employees helps them mingle with their team members at all levels and build professional relationships.

- **Guidance:** Excellent guidance will make them more attracted to the company.

- **Work Environment:** A stress-free environment will make them more active, dynamic, and enthusiastic.

- **Dispute Resolution:** When a problem arises, solve it immediately and avoid biased decisions.

- **Compensation:** Offer good compensation packages based on performance and evaluation of an employee.

- **Incentives:** Provide an incentives program for loyal and hardworking employees.

- **Knowledge Update:** Keep employees updated with the latest technologies and policies.

- **Benefits:** Offer benefits to employees such as health care and vacation time.

As suggested by Ms. (Cite Contribution), arranging a family day that includes weekend parties and picnics can be beneficial. As Mr. Bhaskar said, loyalty is an inborn quality, but people can change under different circumstances. As Mr. Khadir pointed out, always believe in positive motivation, which can take you to a greater level.
