I'm currently trying to develop my company's Performance Management Framework. Can anybody give suggestions on what things I need to consider in developing the framework? I would also appreciate sample frameworks from others.

Thanks

Hi there,

Your framework depends on what you really want from the performance appraisals to achieve and your company's objectives towards employee performance evaluation.

- You just want to check on employee performance.
- You want to evaluate performance for reward purposes.
- You want to evaluate performance to ensure the organization's objectives are met.
- You want to evaluate performance to ensure the organization's objectives and your employees are being developed.
- Objective-Based performance appraisal: when you have a set of objectives annually and you hold the employee accountable whether they achieve them or not, and usually these objectives are determined in the business plan.
- Or it's competence-based: just like the 360-degree where you also have your peers evaluate you based on the competencies you have and objectives.

Do use the search; there are a lot of materials on performance appraisal frameworks to choose from.

Thank you, Anayaat! Actually, I don't want to focus solely on Performance Appraisal but on the entire Performance Management System, which includes goal setting, individual development planning, monitoring, and appraisal.
