Dear All Seniors,

I have 6 years of experience in the HR department, but in my past roles, I have had no knowledge about Training and Development. Could you kindly suggest how many training sessions are typically provided by HR and how they are conducted?

Thank you.

Gautam,

You need to start with identifying the needs for each function in your organization. This can be done by:
1. Going through the appraisal data
2. Meeting with the managers 1:1 and asking them relevant questions
3. Meeting with the target audience and doing the same as step 2
4. Prioritizing the needs
5. Identifying and agreeing upon outcomes
6. Identifying vendors
7. Managing the execution
8. Tracking effectiveness

Please let me know if you need my assistance in any of the above areas.

Regards,
Haresh

Hi there,

It depends on the company policy. In our organization, we have decided that employees are entitled to 10 working days of training annually. You need to agree with the management on how many days employees are entitled to or how many trainings the employee is entitled to, bearing in mind there are 3 types of training:

1. In-house Training: Training conducted within the organization.
2. Local Training: Training conducted within the country, locally.
3. Overseas Training: Training conducted outside the country.

In my previous organization, employees were allocated one local training, one overseas training, and e-training, as long as they attended any number of in-house training sessions relevant to the job or nominated by the division manager.
