how i can manage late coming of the employe. kindly tell me the rule on how many late we can calculate halfday.

Call and find out from the employee the reason for frequent late.

Explain how being punctual to work place will help to plan and kick start the work.

If you are having 15 minutes grace time policy encourage employee to be present on or before the end of grace time to start with.

Check the previous day out time of the employee whether employee leave office on time or stretch and work due to work requirement. Some leniency should be shown if the employee is leaving late after office hours every day.

Introduce some awards for employees who are punctual to office throughout the year.

with regard to leave deduction for late coming generally per month 2 permission(late) may be allowed and for third late .5 day leave may be adjusted so as to make the employee know the importance of being on time to office.

First and foremost what is your weekly working hours of the company, with or without lunch hour. Check his appointment letter about the hours of work mentioned in the appointment letter.
Say if you have 100s of employees and you have biometric or punching system then naturally you cannot expect all will be in at the same time.
So bio metric system is required for all reasonable for all employees. The entering they give bio metric and as they go end of the day they give bio metric and and computerized system check it.
Now another thing is your Information Tech company's there is no start and stop. So you must have an hour earlier and an hour later time schedule and thereby making all employees must put the no of yours work each and per week. The system is computerized so your Salary will be calculated accordingly.
Late coming still noticed may call for a meeting of each employee with the Management and give reason and explanation. Then the management should decide as to the employees contribution and his value of time and work for the company.
It is a complicated matter and therefore should be handled carefully.
Working hours per day and per week is the basic so it should be ensured by proof so as to face any Labour consequences.

You are in HR department and being a HR you have to implement companies Rules, regulation and policy strictly, Coming late on daily basis is a serious issue it is showing negligence toward the work and this is not acceptable. During work pendency/additional work employee can work till late nigh (1 or 2 additional hours) this is the general practice.
i would suggest you to share and display Leave/SRT policy on Companies notice board. If someone is not following you can mark Half day or you can issue show cause notice or warning letter.You have to circulate that as per company norms employees can be dismissed if they are persistently late.

Very simple. Discipline should come from inside... within. Kids are sent to school in an unformated format. Learning discipline starts from there. Beyond schooling, it is for the grown up adult to understand the advantages of being disciplined. Once at work, people learn and understand the advantages of being punctual, following timelines. Beyond giving punishments, the leaders, the seniors, the HODs, the CEO etc should lead by example, by themselves coming to work 15 minutes before the start of the day. That will set a good precedence. While they are young, parents create precedence and they become role models and at work, the seniors play a significant role in establishing discipline, ethical practices etc. In my training module on Ethics at Workplace, I tell the participants that if you are not punctual or not spending quality hours at work tantamount to Unethical practices.

Dear Sarvita,
The late coming to work of an employee sometimes connotes dissatisfaction of the employee in question. In such a situation, the employee is not motivated to come to work early. When he/she leaves office before closing time, then the dissatisfaction with him/her becomes clear. For such an employee, call him/her to the HR Office and let him know the consequences of his behaviour. Advise him to change for better else management will take the punitive action against him. If indeed, he is not motivated or he is dissatisfied with certain bosses or work environment, he will let you know and you try to correct the situation. When all these don't work, issue a query for him to explain why you should not punish him for the unacceptable attitude. I strongly believe that with these measures, he will stop coming to work late.
