Dear all, I just want to ask, if an employee takes leave for 5 or 6 days, including Sunday, will Sunday also be treated as leave or not? For example, if a person takes leave on Friday, and Saturday and Sunday are holidays, and then returns on Wednesday, will Saturday and Sunday be counted as leave or not?

This is also called a sandwich leave policy. As per statutory regulations, even government organizations consider Sunday as a day off. Therefore, it is considered as 6 days. However, many organizations have their own leave policies where they exclude Sunday. Once again, for the benefit of the employee, if the management wishes to exclude Sunday, then you can consider 5 days of leave.

In the above cases, both options are available. It is better to discuss with the management and establish a leave policy to follow.
