I am working in a hospital sector, one of our employee obtained for maternity leave.
I need to know what are the forms / registers to be maintain and to which Govt. officials need be intimate.

I am working in a Hospital sector, one of our Employee obtained for Maternity Leave as per Tamil Nadu MB act 1961.
1.I need to know what are the forms / registers to be maintain
2.Which Govt. officials need be Intimate.
3.What are the other formalities to be initiate.

1. Sir, in my opinion, your organisation must examine the claims for maternity benefit submitted by the female employees of your establishment with reference to the law laid down under the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961.
2. For procedure of such payment of benefits and maintenance of records, I think, there must be some State Govt. Rules, of the State in which your establishment is located. You can get the forms and registers from said State Govt Rules.
3. Please also see if your establishment is covered under ESI Act, 1948 or not ? If so, whether the claimant female employee is covered under ESI Act ?

This is one of the important legal compliances to be followed by organisations.
Every HR department should have with them latest Act,rules and details of state enactments relating to Maternity Benefits Act.
Address and details of concerned State Government official should also be readily available with the HR.
List of returns and registers to be maintained will also be available in the rules.
