This is priti . I am working with services provider company as a Hr generalist. Every month end we celebrate our employee birthday for that I want new idea which help to employees friendly and happy within company.
Please give me the Idea

It is good that you are celebrating Bday every month . You can think of adding the following:
you can get customized greeting cards printed and give it to employee's colleagues to share their wishes.
If you have announcement system , you can use that to wish employee
you can allow employee to leave early by few hours on birthday
you can circulate email wishing him/her

Hi Priti we are doing the followings in our office for celebrating birthdays of our staffs, Hope it will be helpful to you…
1. e-birthday wishes mail can be send to them on their B’day
2 At the end of the month, birthday cake cutting can be organized for the staffs whose birthday falls on that particular month.
3. Small gifts can be given to them on behalf of all staffs during the birthday cake cutting celebration moment as a token of love (Can be a framed group photo of the colleagues or the particular department staffs).
4. And the birthday baby photo with birthday greeting can be put in company bulletin board, it will make them happy.
5. Cake for the whole office to share during break.
Note: If your concern is small one it can be celebrated on behalf of all the staffs, But if its large 1 can celebrate in that particular department.

You can do these little things…
1. Invite him/her for a cup of tea or drink and wish him/her beast wishes for this wonderful day.
2. Present him/her a nice printed birthday wish card with birthday envelope of Rs.____/- on the behalf of management and HR Departement as a token of celebration.
3. Grant him/her a short leave of 1 or 2 hours.
By these little things you can develop a sense of ownership in an employee so they can realize how importment they are for this organization……

Hi Preeti,
I work with a sustainable energy company. And all live in a world experiencing climate change. So as a birthday present we have started gifting trees to our employees on their birthday.
There is this site Grow Trees, Plant Trees, Gift a tree and help the environment
We grow 5 trees which cost 425 , Rs 85 each and present a e-certificate to he employee on his birthday. ut this we all play our part in saving our earth.

You can start a surprise on a Bday like putting a personalised note from his HOD / HR Head with flower / small gift at his workplace before he arrives on duty... The note as well as the gift can be standardized..

Hi preeti, I worked in a Hospitality company, on every birthday we were arranging a cake cutting ceremony in presence of all staff including seniors & MD of company (if available), parallely also arranging south indian/ italian dishes. Every one celebrating the same having cake and dishes together, cracking light jokes and discussions. Birthday boy/Girl has to sing a song/dance........
In this way we were trying to make the environment more healthy & friendly.

Probably these may be unique but could be implemented, if possible & circumstances facilitate these ideas -

1.I like planting tree on a birth day - but the problem is space - in the present living conditions- Flat life I mean, in the Flats of apartments where to plant trees ? However those who are fortunate enough to house their offices in a wide landed area, it's like that, the Birth day boy/girl shall be presented a sappling of fruit bearing trees and let him plant it in the lawns, put up the name board on it. Of course, leave the responsibility of maintaining it to the same B'day boy/girl.

2.I don't advocate cutting a cake on fixed day of the month on behalf of all who celebrate during the entire month, for the simple reason that B'day will be charmful when it's celebrated on the very same day of B'day. So it's nothing wrong if the B'day cake is cut in the office on the very same day with all pomp and show, distribute cake to all in the office, may be the family is invited for a high tea at a convenient time, may be the B'day boy/girl will foot the bill.

3.Let some of his/her friends visit their house at midnight and present the cake with B'day card signed by all colleagues.

4.A team should secretly enquire with his/her spouse/parents what should be his/her long felt desire/article/gadgets etc. and it sshall be presented on his/her birth day (provided if it's fitting within the budget)

5.Could collect photos from his/her birth onwards, prepare a nice album and present it like Release of Audio of films.

6.Help a poor boy or girl who could not support their studies, declaring the B'day boy/girl as the sponsor.

7.The HOD,CEO could have lunch with him/her on this day.

8.A gift in the form of FD maturing on his/her retirement will be likable.

Dear Pritee, Your idea is praiseworthy but needs little bit change. Do you find it proper a couple decides a Honeymoon on 1st anniversary of wedding. Same like celebration of Birthday at the end of the month. Do one thing - Celebrate it either on the previous day after the Office hours or on the birthday at Lunch hour and in that case inform in advance to the colleague about the celebration. That will be a real feeling of satisfaction. Thanks.

Dear All,
I liked all comments for celebration of B'day,
But what i suggest is that Please do not waste your money in cake, party and all current entertainment activity,
Create a new erra by giving him NSC/ Saving certificate / LIC policy/ life saving item etc from the fund of total expenditure you would like to spend on his B'day party.
For celebration assemble all at tea time and present this and give him a happy wish.
If you have some more time than assemble in some of Holly place like temple / old edge home/ disabled /child home etc and worship for his future OR give some time for them.
In fact I too could not do this but I wish to do so.
