Hi all, I need some informative help and assistance regarding my EPF account for better clarity. On all my documents (Passport, PAN Card, School Certificates, etc.) provided, only my first name is written, which is "Madhukar" (no last name mentioned).
Question About EPF Account Naming
My question is: Will there be any problem in opening an EPF account without the surname/last name? I request you to kindly educate me about the above. Any information provided will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Madhukar

Opening an EPF Account with Only a First Name
In simple words, an EPF account can be opened with only the first name, and there is no specific condition to supply a last name because there are many people who have only a first name or no last name listed professionally in records.
If you have provided copies of your valid documents to your employer with your name as "MADHUKAR" only, then you will be registered as "MADHUKAR" with EPF by your employer. You also need to ensure that the same name appears on the receipt of EPF number/details provided by the employer so that there won't be any problems at the time of withdrawal.
You are required to have a savings bank account (SB A/c) with the same name that you have in your EPF records; otherwise, you will not be able to access your funds.
