You should start your career as a HR Generalist. It provides you with exposure to wide range of HR functions and their interrelationships. Such a back ground will be of immense help when you move to senior positions like HR Head wherein you are called up on to guide your team handling different Hr functions.and thus it helps you take prudent decisions. You learn more of generalist function by living in that role.however you may pursue a short term course to get an idea of it.All the best.

.The useful short term courses can be in generalist HR or statutory compliances or industrial relations etc.It is better to enroll for courses conducted by the universities or institutes of repute .
