my company wrongly treated my gross salary as pf wages and deduct 12% from the gross ie 20000 and deduct 12% for 20000 is 2400, now can we change the pf wages to 6500 and pf 12% i.e. 780? is it possible? Please let me know.
Every month I am paying 2400 instead of 780.
Please let me know how to sort out this issue.

Nothing wrong in paying more PF. Acually employees are more benefitted instead of paying pf limiting to Rs. 780/-

If you want to reduce your PF Wages. Submit Formal Letter to RPFC and contribute 0nly PF Basic salary only. Suresh

It is not a problem. There is no need of formal letter to RPFC. Next month onward you can deduct only 780 from 6500/-. Even if the amount is more it will be credited into your PF A/c Only.

Dear All,
I had discussed with the PF ENFO. OFFICER AT CHENNAI, HE ADVISED ME NOT TO REDUCE THE PF WAGES. I.E. ONCE A PERSON DECLARED THE PF WAGES AS 20000 AND PAID THE PF 12% FOR THAT VALUE [RS.2400/-] IT WILL NOT BE REDUCED IN FUTURE.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW THIS ANSWER IS CORRECT OR NOT....

According to me you need not pay the amount of ESIC for Rs 20,000 from the next month onwards. The only thing is that the amount already paid will not be refunded. More over there is no law that every time the PF has to be paid on the Rs20,000. The PF amount has to be paid on the salary which the employee receive at the end of the month.
