I have recently joined the HR department of a product-based IT startup where I am expected to handle all HR activities. I am completely new to the area of payroll. Can anyone please send me the complete ABC of payroll? I need advice on formulating a salary structure.

Dear Ankita,

Please find below a basic guideline of the salary structure. Perks vary from company to company, but common emoluments such as LTA, Medical, PF, Gratuity, HRA, Basic, DA, and Special Allowance are typically included in every package.

- Kindly note that the Basic should be 42% of the Fixed cost without Housing.
- Superannuation is calculated based on the company's policy.
- HRA varies depending on the city (e.g., Kolkata - 50% of basic, Ranchi - 40% of basic, Coimbatore - 35% of basic).

Salary Structure Required

Hi Friends, this is my first post here, and I would be highly obliged with your help. I need to prepare a salary breakup for employees. Being new in business, we do not have any PF or gratuity deductions. The only thing that is deducted is PT. Could you please help me with a basic salary structure?
