Dear All,

I work in a BPO, and we are planning to start a Training and Development division separately to continuously provide training programs for various employees on different topics. The first and foremost focus will be on communication, personality development, etc. Could anyone help me with a questionnaire or any other form that will assist me in assessing the training needs and rating the employees? This will make it easier for us to determine who needs training on specific topics.

Any views or assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated and helpful.

Hi Renu,

Choosing who to train and on what subjects is a significant issue. You have probably already done this, but I would suggest taking the following steps:

1) Define the core skills required (and the level required) for each key job.

2) Map the skills levels to your training programs (there may be gaps where you do not have training yet).

3) Assess your staff to see what their current level actually is for these skills - have their managers confirm this assessment.

4) Use the resulting skills gap, mapped against the training programs (from step 2), to produce your training plans. These can be for each individual, but when rolled up, will also show you the training needs across the organization.
