Friends, I have seen a number of postings from various individuals seeking help to prepare HR policies. I am enclosing a couple of policies prepared by me for the benefit of all. Any suggestions from senior professionals are most welcome.

  • Dear Respected Raghunath Sir,

In HR studies, I have been given a project on a field report where I need to prepare a questionnaire for visiting the HR department and understand the functioning of the HR department in the company. Could you please suggest how it should be prepared so that HR personnel are more inclined to respond to it? What are the expectations of the HR department from students when they approach HR for such studies?

    Thank you.

I find the document very helpful, especially from a country like Fiji in the South Pacific region. Now that we have the HR manual, do you by any chance have the Recruitment and Selection policy of any organization with you?

Thank you very much! That was really helpful. I am hoping I can get some help or tips in preparing job descriptions for positions related to air traffic control and aeronautical information services.

    Hi Suryavanshi,

You need to specify the type of fieldwork you wish to undertake.

You need to observe in the HR Dept about the maintenance of employees' files first, to ensure they are complete in all aspects. This includes checking the date of joining, CV accomplished with copies of educational certificates, relieving letters from previous employers, and the date of appraisal.

Secondly, you need to observe the methodology of recruitments and the types of ratings adopted for each position, as well as the various tests conducted for selecting candidates.

Thirdly, observe the methods adopted by the organization for performance appraisals, such as the appraisal form used, the types of ratings given, and the percentage of increments suggested by HR.

Fourthly, you need to observe the statutory aspects like ESI, PF, PT formalities of the organization.

Finally, consider other things like the notice period for employees leaving the organization, the exit interview report submitted by HR, and various other aspects such as issuing memos, warning letters, and show cause notices to employees.

    Hope this serves your purpose.

Excellent post! It has helped many of us who are freshers in this industry. Seeking your valuable guidance on my query below. I am presently working in the manufacturing industry for the past 7 years in the Payroll section. I would like to know in detail how to design an HR manual for a newly set-up hospital.

    Hospital Details

This hospital will be established in Pune (Yerawada), with 150 beds, around 500 employees, and will be a Multi-Specialty hospital. Can anyone provide me with a sample HR policy for Multi-Specialty hospitals? Your guidance is highly awaited. Please help as I am not able to find any information elsewhere.

    Thank you.
