Hi Seniors,

Please advise me to come out of this situation..What should my friend do in such situation..
One of my friend was with a reputed IT services company for over 5 years. While joining he submitted a fake pay slip as his company had no bank accounts and no payslip (a fixed amount was given in cash). He was a very good performer in his project and the company even retained him when he put down his papers 6 months ago. Few months ago, when one of his team member got terminated for similar offence, he became very conscious of his mistake and he himself went and informed his supervisor of his mistake 5 years ago and immediately sent his resignation. Since my friend is one of THE BEST in the team, his supervisor assured nothing will happen and his will be pardoned. He even accepted his resignation,by mentioning the last working date and also mentioned that he would be serving 2 months notice and would do the knowledge transfer. After one and a half month when knowledge transfer was done, his supervisor didnt do anything and after some time, the company did background check and questioned my friend. Then the HR issued a relieving letter stating his experience and also stating the reason for exit as – misrepresentation of facts while joining.
Now my friend is depressed..What should he do?

Should he tell the truth or no while attending interview with other companies? Will he be able to get another job?

Divya,
It would be better for him to mention what happened in past while attending the interviews, since he needs to justify as why his reliving letter contains “misrepresentation of facts while joining” as a reason for exit.
I wish him all the best in his job search.
Rgds,
Ram
