Hi Friends,

Can anyone clarify if 10th May 2008 (Polling date in Bangalore) is a paid holiday? If so, has it been announced by the government? Has it been communicated in any official notification through the press?

Please clarify.

Hi.

As per The Karnataka Industrial Establishments (National Festival Holidays) Act, 1963, Section 3A, the day on which polling is held is a paid holiday. On May 6, 2008, Vijay Karnataka published a news clipping about the holiday on the polling day. The holiday has also been declared as per the Shops & Establishments Act.

Please go through the attachments.

With regards, GS

It has been announced in the papers that BPO’s and IT companies can offer a two hour permission to the employees instead of a full day leave.
