Sir, An employee of a factory has retired in 2020. She is unable to withdraw her PF amount due to a DOB mismatch between the EPFO records vs the Aadhar card. PF office asked her to get it corrected through her employer. However, that factory has closed permanently now.
Please suggest ways how she can withdraw her PF amount & also claim her EPFO pension.

Online Correction: The EPFO provides an online facility for employees to correct their personal details, including the date of birth. The employee can log in to the EPFO's Unified Member Portal and navigate to the "Manage" section to update the DOB. However, this process may require verification through the employer.

Offline Correction: If the online correction is not possible or successful, the employee can submit a written request to the concerned EPFO regional office for the correction of the DOB. This request should be accompanied by supporting documents, such as a copy of the Aadhaar card, PAN card, or other government-issued documents showing the correct DOB.

Affidavit: The employee can also consider obtaining an affidavit from a notary public stating the correct date of birth. This affidavit can be submitted to the EPFO along with other supporting documents as evidence of the correct DOB.

Visit EPFO Regional Office: If all else fails, the employee can visit the nearest EPFO regional office in person. They should bring along all necessary documents, including proof of the correct DOB. The EPFO officials at the regional office can guide the employee through the correction process.

Contact Aadhaar Enrollment Center: If the DOB on the Aadhaar card is incorrect, the employee should visit an Aadhaar enrollment center to get the DOB corrected. Once the Aadhaar record is updated, it can be linked to the EPFO records to ensure consistency.

Claiming EPF and Pension: If the DOB mismatch issue is resolved and the employee wishes to withdraw their PF amount and claim their pension, they can follow the usual process. This involves submitting the necessary forms, documents, and declarations to the EPFO. The forms can be obtained from the EPFO portal or the regional office.

It's important to note that while the factory where the employee worked has closed, the EPFO continues to operate, and employees have the right to access their PF funds and pensions. Even if the company is closed, the employer portal will be active and the employer can approve the changes. Earlier, when the EPFO used to accept offline forms, wherever the counter signature of the employer is required, we used to get the signature of gazetted officers or bank managers. Now, EPFO is not accepting it. You can do one thing, change the date of birth in the member portal and submit it for approval by the employer and then ask the employer to approve it. If the employer is not traceable, give an affidavit that the employer is not traceable and hence the date of birth may be corrected by the EPFO.
